The Self

Within PAAM it is the individuals that develop the team, and secondly the other way around. This means that there are high demands put on each and every individual considering self-learning, self-management and self-motivation. The organizational focus is therefore to inspire each individual to be their true self and to dare to continuously develop and grow. The idea is that inspiration provides the conditions for motivation, which is a prerequisite for progress, leading to success.

The goal is to build individuals with high self-confidence, secure self-esteem and clear self-image. It is a fact as Thomas Carlyle states: “Nothing builds self-esteem and self-confidence like accomplishment.”. Self-confidence is situation specific, while self-esteem is a general impression of oneself that is influenced by ones values, and self-image is the mental picture that is grounded in awareness of ones characteristics. There is a need to challenge oneself continuously with a disciplined growth mindset, keeping a high level of integrity when it comes to creating ones future. Hence, it is important to keep in mind that growth often happens in the area of discomfort. It is a fun, and yet true, quote that states: “If dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough”.

Each individual should be a natural part of the team (perhaps or hopefully according to working geniuses), guided by an opportunity focused enthusiasm and passion for the business purpose. When everyone has the obligation to take full responsibility for their and the team’s development, it creates the law of interdependence within the whole organization. Psychological safety becomes crucial for each individual, creating the needed trust within the team. It gives room for healthy conflict, high commitment and accountability. The idea is that, in the end, this will lead to the best conditions to create a prosperous business with great results. It is presented in more detail on the page North Star and Beacon.
