The Hourglass Economy

It is easy to ascertain that today’s society is very developed. Most things are better.

A lot of smart solutions have been introduced to facilitate everyday life and make it easier to be human. The amount of available and useful information increases rapidly all the time. Hence, the conditions for making great decisions based on accurate information have never been better.

At the same time, there is another side of the story. There are a few fundamental things that have changed for the worse – things that affect society in a dramatic and frightening way. We call it the Hourglass economy – a kleptocratic society filled with despotism misleading people.

This has to be crushed!

The Mush

The hourglass is a metaphor for the present undemocratic segregation between those in the bottom without knowledge, information or justice and the mush in the top that holds the reins.

The narrow passage between the shadow societies is kept or further narrowed, making sure that the risk of fundamental change is minimized. Furthermore, there is a continuous stream of sand pouring down making it even harder for someone trying to make the way to the top.

It is not about class, or race or other things that are used by politicians and activists around the world to define inequalities. No, this is about the mush of people that with their ideas are trying by all means to hold the stands, by slander, deceptive information, and corruption. Most of the time in bright daylight in established, accepted, and prepared channels, with hidden agendas. And it can go on!?

Carrots are thrown

However, the mush is now and then giving someone the opportunity to join their society when it suits them, gives them a PR-opportunity, or calms the public opinion. It is important to keep the dream alive and show that everything still is possible – making sure that it seems free and just.

Nevertheless, it is important to remember that when someone is a member of the mush, they are seldom bad people, per se. In fact, it is often so, that people think they are working for the good side even though it might seem obvious for others that they are not.

Often the defense of the behavior are things like “I just do what I am told, it is not my responsibility” or “let the law has its course”. It is important to keep in mind that evil is in the eyes of others.

Bank system

The bank system is federally supported, with 99% support from the federal reserve. Despite this, risk premiums are high and the real support for businesses are embarrassing. Private banks are charging fees for exchange rates even though they have no involvement in the business.

Associations

There are associations that are opened, semi-opened, or covered that recieve federal missions which looks like it is handled by governmental authorities even though they are acting to maximize profit for specific companies. The EU are making decisions to promote large corporations even though they informs the opposite.

Oligopoly

Even thought it in most countries are antitrust laws to secure the federal state from to large businesses. Furthermore, there are competition laws to secure that large businesses do not get to much influence. However, none of the laws are in fact used, so corporations are totally controlling markets and in some cases also politics.

Free trade

There are a lot of talk about free trade, while both the U.S. and the EU imposes more and more tariffs and duties. Tax reductions and regional subsidies are also given without control or structure, often to large corporations. In countries with strong unions services are madly controlled while product competition is totally ok.

Tenders

There are a lot of tenders that are fully controlled from the time of preparation to the order. New rules are setup for show. If it is not possible to steer it fully with money, new ways to secure tender winners are made up by consultants and lawyers.

Stock market

The unhealthy stock market is controlling the fundamental economy, even though it per se should not have this continuous effect on either businesses or politics. Furthermore, derivates are used to decrease the possibility to review the businesses.

Censored authorities

It is more and more censored and controlled information within authorities even though the democratic utopia is still communicated as a fact. Freedom of speech, transparency and investigating journalism are limited continuously within and in bilateral agreements between countries.

Trust the law

Courts are the sole judges of what is right and wrong. Since the law is slow (and should be), the ones with creative lawyers that finds loopholes get the high hand. The rich are the only ones benefitting from this, since they can enforce improper agreements.

Talk the talk

There are a lot of celebrations of ambition and individuals or corporations stating things. The interest of real action and results is not as interesting. Sometimes, it is more important to create a policy than it is to act according to a guiding principle. It is also interesting to notice that as long as a Casino informs about a support hotline it is ok to keep ruining lives.

Corporate science and media

In a lot of cases it is ok that corporations and associations are sponsoring science, media and politics (both in the open and not). This means that the information that is communicated by universities, journalists, and politicians sometimes are fake, and that the trust for these institutions are destroyed.

Click baits

Earlier it was really important for journalists to keep ethics on a high and trustful level. However, the strive to get as many clicks as possible and to earn as much money and fame as possible has eviscerated the profession and has caused the public to doubt the information from media. It is a real threat to the democratic idea that has been a reality for quite some time.

Silent culture

In the new society that is shaped, at least in the western world, it is almost ok to do whatever and by staying silent long enough not having to explain oneself or facing the consequences. A new variant is to, often as a corporate leader, go out and state that “I will take full responsibility.” without declaring any meaning of those words.

Manipulation by fear

Focus is put on making sure that fear and injustice is on the agenda at all times. This creates a society without discussion and debate, resulting in a trench war where nobody listens to anything but their own intercessors, and everybody from “the other side” showing themselves or speaking their opinion is almost shot to death directly without questions

Echo chambers

A lot of information is adjusted by algorithms to fit the opinions and interests of the consumer. It might feel nice in the short run but it is a real threat to the long-term knowledgebase of the people. The only way to get new information and expand ones knowledge is to actively search for it, which is almost impossible.

Money launders everything

Events that captures a lot of interest are used to justify governance. It is called sports washing since it is used in the football World Cup, F1 racing and the Olympics among other areas. It can also be seen, in a slightly different way, when the Swedish government call the government of Saudi Arabia an absolute monarchy instead of a dictatorship to be able to sell weaponry.

Distractions

Small and indifferent things and areas are discussed thoroughly to make sure that systematic deficiencies do not get into focused. By creating complete pointless whistleblower laws and at the same time hunting down real whistleblowers and introducing other laws stating that journalists are not fully allowed to inform the public about things they find during investigations.

It is a long term mission

This is no politically bound agenda whatsoever. Nevertheless, we are on a pursuit for awareness among people. We do not accept a society without solidarity, where people accept and remain silent when things are wrong, or when someone is exploiting society at the expense of others or hinders other people’s actions, thoughts, and ideas.

We want to have an opportunity focus. We want to think that enough is enough. However, we know that it will take a lot of effort. We think that we have to go thru the darkness, and thru the narrow tunnel of ethics to reach the light on the other side. We are willing to work hard for this, so that future generations can live with real freedom, justice, and opportunities.
